There are some things we "need" to do in this life, and then there are legitimate, crucial things that if we don't heed them will endanger our physical lives. Well, Jesus told us in the Gospel of John through 7 "I AM" statements that He is CRUCIAL for our souls. And if we don't listen to Jesus, the consequence will be off the charts. Do we love Jesus more than anything and anyone? The question is necessary for the Lord to know that He can ask us anything and to have the confidence that we'll follow Him all our days.
